Dr. Elena Merisor
Practice Manager
PhD Elena Merișor, Practice Manager, has international extensive industrial and academia experience in Sciences, especially in Method and Process Development, Custom Synthesis and Manufacturing, Medicinal and Environmental Chemistry. In her current role, she oversees the laboratory practices business initiatives within Actalent, in the UK and Europe. Elena specializes in providing project-based management, technical consultancy and people management, within the large scope of capabilities that Actalent has to offer, including laboratory management and testing, drug safety, regulatory affairs, environmental services and more.
Before joining Actalent in 2020, she held a dual role for the Swiss CRO/ CDMO Solvias AG, as a Customer Project Leader and Head of the Customer Project Management for the BU, Ligands & Speciality Chemical (LSP), Basel. Her responsibilities included oversight of chemical and manufacturing laboratory, corporate project management, technical operations, product development, portfolios and scientific teams. Prior to joining Solvias, Elena has worked over 6 years for a leading British CRO, Sygnature Ltd. as a Medicinal Chemist & Scientific Coordinator and she spent two additional years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Nottingham. Her career began in Romania in 1998 at the University of Bucharest as a Research Scientist in Organic Chemistry and then a Lecturer at the same university; during her Romanian doctoral work, she has been granted one-year Erasmus Fellowship at the University of Braunschweig, Germany. She continued her career ambitions and goals, taking up a new doctoral work at the University of Hohenheim, Germany, graduating with Summa cum Laude in Organic Chemistry. She then continued her career development with a German company in the field of cosmetics, textile and dye chemistry, spending time in Germany and Singapore - where she was responsible for setting-up a new laboratory and transferring the know-how, from the German site to the Singaporean site.
She holds Austrian PMP certifications and has published & authored several articles and publications in the journal of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) - Angewandte Chemie, Synlett, Synfacts and Journal of Organic Chemistry, among others.
Elena has earned her Master of Science degree in Organic Chemistry from University of Bucharest, Romania, her PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Hohenheim, Germany and is currently enrolled in an EMBA program with the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
